Vintage2Glam is my idea of reusing vintage goodies, and turning them into something Glam. I love taking vintage finds, and make them modern with wonderful colors and a vintage twist..... love to incorporate them into my own vintage inspired art an accessories. Pleased to say that my jewelry was worn my Ellen Burstyn in the movie "GRETA" starring Ellen and Hillary Duff filmed in historical town of Ocean Grove N.J.

My First Adult Art Show.....

I have been an artist since I could recall, my parents saw my love of drawing and painting and enrolled me in every art lesson they could find......I was entered into many shows as a child and now finally as an adult...what took me so long???  I really enjoyed my first show this past weekend in Ocean Grove on the boardwalk, despite the miserable weather.
you don't realize all the work it takes just to get into a show..... with applications, photos, fees, set up, making your goods and pricing....its a lot of work, physically and mentally.  This is a practice run at home trying to make my 10 x 10 foot area nice and appealing.....

the day before we loaded and reloaded the truck...wow! was I happy it all fit.....John is so good at getting everything in just right!

we got to the area that was marked for our space and set up...All went well, nice and smooth...thankful for practice runs...

setting up the displays just how you want them is what takes some time the first time around.....next show will be quicker now that we have the hang of it....

we are "ready" it was a very HOT morning, little cloudy.......

was happy with our set up and had gotten so many nice compliments....

we displayed mixed media art and jewelry......

some painted vintage suitcases......
We met so many lovely people......had a bunch of sales......then we saw the weather changing......and quickly......

Wow! did it get dark......we were hoping it would miss the show but no luck!   It rained and it poured from 11 am till around 2 or 3... was so thankful for our tent and sides.... we pretty much stayed dried...we had so many lovely people come into our tent to get out of the rain.... lucky for us they liked our things and started buying gifts, then Christmas gifts, while they were waiting out the storm... was so  happy that a nasty weather day turned into many sales for us... but sorry for our many friends who live in Freehold NJ that had such terrible destruction from this storm....

can't wait for our next show
Ocean Grove Craft Show
Sept. 1st
9 till 4
hope to see you there....

Ocean Grove House Tour 2012

What a day! The wind, the rain, and the falling temperatures...... to think just a day or 2 ago the temps were over 100 and today in the mid 6o's.....Well that didn't keep many people from visiting The Historical Society of Ocean Grove 44th Annual House Tour.

I was a docent for the tour this year as well as last year and must say I really enjoy doing so..... You can work in the morning or the afternoon, you get to tour all the houses or tents and be the first in line,......and you don't have to pay for your tickets....they are always looking for people to docent, maybe next year you may decide to  do so.....contact the Historical Society for details.

the sea was angry today, the wind was strong but still can't beat this view....

what  lovely gardens surrounded this home....

their was a vegetable gardens as well as flower gardens...

just walking from house to house you see so many interesting places.....

it really is a quaint little town..........

I saw so many interesting touches that I can't wait to find the perfect spots in our home to paint.

love how they built this collection of photos.....

so sweet want to paint all our doors....

in this Inn many rooms were wall papered and then details painted right over the paper.....

even on this rainy damp day the covered porch was really enjoyable.....

how could you not love this town........?

check out the size of this chess set....compared to the car above....

just loved this adorable cottage, originally it was a tent that they closed in and was it adorable............soft pale colors  owners surfboard used as art....

Even the car matched......

love the details on the porch and the soft colors.....some people just have that magic touch

this is the gardens and even a section painted right on the house..........

love the mix of old and new......

this was the home that I docent at today.....

it was so colorful and charming, you would want to move right in......

next year I will make sure I am available to work again....it was such and interesting day learning about the history of the homes and this town, and seeing how clever people are with their decorating both inside and out in their lovely gardens.

summer teaching

I love to teach in the summer...most teachers may say they want the time off (not that it is not a needed break) but I love that I get to teach what I love and teach outside in the fabulous gardens in this quaint historical town.  Its always a plus when what you are excited about teaching excites your students.....The ladies during this weeks classes were all super students and each one took what I taught them and made it their own.....I so love that....
One of my students has her own interesting Blog and wrote about my class and even made a  few videos of what I taught them.....so happy that they have learned a new craft and are sharing what they learned with others.
You can check out her  Jacqueline's blog Tokyojinja right here...

I am so happy when I can share my love of art with my students.....what a great day we all had in the quaint town of Ocean Grove N.J.......the ladies and young ladies did an awesome job...I couldn't be more pleased....they  were such great students and created some beautiful paper flowers....the weather was perfect...after a few weeks of record highs we finally had a break in the weather.....it was the perfect day......
here is some pics from our day..........
I had 3 very talented young ladies in class and they were all quick learners....Georgia had her mine set and was quick to know what she wanted to do and she did just that.....

she was able to learn the technique and move quickly right along..........always makes the teacher feel good when her students get it and take off......

Jacqueline, Georgia's mom was also a talented student and quickly picked up all the techniques and mixed and matched patterned papers for some interesting flowers...

the time just flew by.....................we learned how to make so many different types of paper flowers....

Kathy was so creative and made the most beautiful , colorful and interesting flower.....that she will turn into a gorgeous pin.....

Marlene was busy creating all sorts of flowers  from the tiny to the large.....

this is Pippa the youngest student who rocked...what a cutie.....here she is with a present she made for me....a beautiful Lilly paper flower....Pippa and her sister Georgia and mom Jacqueline are in town for the summer and they live in Japan.... you never know in these classes who you will meet and where they are from...This is why I love teaching here in Ocean Grove...I get to teach and meet the most interesting people......

this is Emma....from Arizona.....what a cutie and a quick learner....I would explain how to make someting and before you knew it she was the first one complete and put her  own spin on each project...

these ladies didn't want their pictures taken so I was quick to get a few shots of their work......

Miss Georgia had a plan and she was going to finish her idea.....love that when kids know what they want and are able to create such lovely work......

Pippa loved to create and she was always busy.....love her...

the cottage and gardens were showing off today....

in the back ground is Julian the master gardener with Mary who I cannot thank enough for all their help in getting these classes going and with all their help setting up...Love you guys......
after class we always go for a nice relaxing lunch and the homes are so colorful and so nicely kept.....

I just love Ocean Grove...every where you look is a  picture perfect snapshot..I hope you enjoyed your day..I know I certainly did....
