Vintage2Glam is my idea of reusing vintage goodies, and turning them into something Glam. I love taking vintage finds, and make them modern with wonderful colors and a vintage twist..... love to incorporate them into my own vintage inspired art an accessories. Pleased to say that my jewelry was worn my Ellen Burstyn in the movie "GRETA" starring Ellen and Hillary Duff filmed in historical town of Ocean Grove N.J.

Doll House Show 2013

Well my many hours of painting my first doll house as ended with the house at the show.....

My friend Vicki arranges this show every year, its many hours of hard work getting all the details just right....

there are people that have been collecting for many many years......

right down to the soup cans on the shelves......

this was John's favorite...a fishing pier scene.....

My friends Mary and Bob loaned the museum their Santa collection that they have been collecting for many many years, they have well over 100 Santa's on display......

their Santa's were everywhere......and really add that holiday spirit to the show.....

loved this house too!!!!you can just tell when someone loves what they do.....and no detail was ignored.....

how cute is this tent.......

the time and energy that went into this house is really amazing....

I must say I was happy she asked me to participate...it really was a challenge and one that I really enjoyed.....

my house really stands out.....in the museum filled with sepia and black and white photos and documents...... I am hoping in a good creative and colorful way.....

I must confess I haven't been collecting for years like so many doll house collectors......I tried to be creative with a few hand me down pieces, some I made myself and some dollar store wooden finds....and some old dried up paint brushes for the roof.....

I tried to paint the house like it was my canvas and painted all my favorite designs on each side of the house....

happy my family was able to come and see the finished piece....They saw the mess I made for many months while working on this piece and I think they were surprised that I pulled it all together.....

I must thank my good friend Jayne Bielak for finding this doll house for $2.00 at our local thrift shop....If you have a chance you should take a ride and see the show, you will be amazed at all the wonderful doll house collections that are on display this holiday season.....
You did a GREAT job Vicki Bacolo.......

my Doll House Challenge.......

My dear friend Vicki from Ocean Grove asked me months ago would I like to create a mixed media dollhouse for the Annual Ocean Grove Doll House  Show.  I told her I really didn't collect dolls, I have 2 boys and no girls and wasn't really into the doll house collecting thing.....Not that I didn't like it just I am involved with so many things that really didn't have the time for this hobby at the moment.  She said to make it a mixed media house and to do my thing.......  I called my friend Jayne a doll expert to ask her advise.......She brought over a doll house and said its yours..... do what you want with it......I didn't want to be too fussy but it didn't have the bones I was looking for.....so she took it home and a few hours  later appeared with this beauty.......

o
she found it in the local thrift for $2.00.....can you believe it....I couldn't.... It was PERFECT!!!!!
so off to my workshop it went......wasn't sure what to do....I thought for days, weeks, how was I going to make this a different doll house from all the fabulous houses she receives each year..... since  I have been on a painting kick I  thought make it "a painted house"......and so I began......

I hung up a few of my colorful paintings and just began,  I base coated it and blended all my favorite colors and started to make the  house like my favorite paintings......

I thought if I treated each side like a canvas then how can it be bad........

as long as I keep the same colors through-out how bad could it be

I had fun adding all the trims and details........

I took off the shutters and added wood trim to add a little detail.....them replaced the shutters.....

I had this painting and thought I would turn it into wall paper for the house....so I measured and trimmed it............

attached to the wall and I just LOVE it.......I painted the floors black and the walls pink and turq....

had these paintings and also used them as wall paper.....thought it would be easier then to try to paint designs on the wall....

I removed the hinged roof and just attached it when I was through with the painting on the inside....

I needed some more patterned paper so I painted another sheet and added it to the house....

I have been collecting these  old paint brushes from my art class room...the students really know how to ruin brushes....I just couldn't through them away.... I have been saving them and never knew what to do with them until now.........

so I added them to the roof since it is a painted house ..why not!!!

here is the finished front.......

and the finished back.........I acquired a few pieces of doll house furniture, which I painted to match, and believe it or not found some furniture at the dollar store...so  I just painted those too!!!!!!
I can't believe I was able to complete this challenge using my painted pages, paint, a couple old paint brushes, a $2.00 doll house, and a couple dollar store pieces.....See you don't have to spend a-lot to have fun and make something creative........

Thanks Vicki for challenging me to make this doll house,I truly enjoyed the journey.....

Can't wait to see the show.......
